Beware geeks bearing gifts
Wikipedia - that wonderful journalistic timesaver. Suppose you've a dry football fixtures piece to knock out, and you need a spot of trivia to show your readers that you know a little more about Manchester City's UEFA Cup opponents, Cypriot club Omonia Nicosia, than they do.Wikipedia fits the bill perfectly. I mean, where else can you find out in less than 30 seconds that their hardcore fans are known as "The Zany Ones", and that they wear hats made from shoes to illustrate that point?
Well nowhere really, because they aren't, and they don't. Or rather now they don't outside of the pages of the Daily Mirror. Ouch. And lesson number two is to have a working corrections email addy.

But these things can be self fulfilling.
For example the Nicosia fans could start wearing shoes on their heads as a joke response.
And then it would be true.
